C02-emissions -which way will they tip?
In this TCO Rio Ranking Report, TCO presents climate negotiation-related data for over 100 countries for 1990-2009. The open database which forms the basis for this report (www.tco.se/riorank), provides opportunities for everyone to analyze why energy-related carbon dioxide emissions have risen and fallen for each country and year included in the database.
It is also possible to create different kinds of rankings for selected countries and periods. In the database and in the report we have succeeded in mathematically separating six factors which explain why energy-related carbon dioxide emissions increase or decrease over time.
These six factors are: Changes in population, average income, economic structure, energy efficiency, non-renewable energy’s share of the national energy mix and carbon intensity of the non-renewable energy share
